How to care for a violin to ensure longevity and...
See more..This antique violin was made by luthier EDMOND SAUNIER in 1746 according to the label inside the instrument.
He was born in Mirecourt, France. In 1730 he worked with Lambert in Nancy. From 1752 to 1766 he moved to live in Bordeaux. And finally settled in Paris. His workshop was in Rue Tiquetonne from 1768 to 1774 and moved to Rue Prouvaires from 1775 to 1783.
He was well-trained in a good environment and made a good number of violins in the historic Mirecourt style with a flat and wide design with a yellow or red varnish.
The guitar has the word SAUNIER engraved on the back of the guitar and a very old label with faded letters over time on the inside of the guitar. The wood is dry and strong, giving the good sound quality of an old violin.
