See more..Landi Sheng (盛中新) is a violinist from a musical family. His father, Sheng Xue, is a music professor, and his mother is a vocal teacher. Of his eleven siblings, ten pursue artistic careers and nine are violinists. His older brother, Sheng Zhongguo, is a renowned violinist and educator, often referred to as the “Menuhin of China.”
Landi Sheng was recognized for his talent at an early age, winning third place in the junior group of the National New Youth Violin Competition in 1981. At the age of fourteen, he became a soloist and conductor of the China Radio Symphony Orchestra. He then studied with a full scholarship in Canada and another institution, consistently winning awards and performing with top orchestras.
His career took a personal turn from performing artist to master violin maker. He taught himself how to make violins and won a silver medal at the 2000 US International Violin Making Competition. He is also known for his restoration and instrument making.
His violin workshop is located in Arcadia, Los Angeles, USA.
